DINE-AMIC'S POS SOFTWARE operates in various MODES.
Run your system as you see fit in any or all modes.
 
Examples are:

Full Service Mode is Server entry & recal by ticket or table. Some places do let them use a table map. You can restrict access by section or leave it wide open to let everyone help everyone. You can turn on prompts for number of guests or just let it count Entree's. 
 
Cashier & Hostess Mode offers a Table map with complete access to any ticket. Customers can pay anybody, anytime. Ticket transfers, splits, CC authorizations, pretty much anything can be done by the Cashier / Hostess if you set the Security that way. Bring up customer "favorites" information.
 
Bartender Mode has both cash accounts and open tickets. Cash drinks over the bar are tallied in one big account per bartender/drawer. Plus, Bartenders may start a ticket for a guest, then pay it or transfer it to the dining room. When ordering, a bartender's drink menu usually doesn't prompt for the drink mix. He already knows it's a Scotch with Water. He doesn't have to tell himself "water" as a Server does in sending a fully described order to his printer. Bring up customer balances of they have"House Accounts" (chargeable). 
 
Take-out & To-go Mode prompts for pickup times and customer information.
A Customer number with name & address info will be created if one is not found. Keep purchase history, missed pickups, bad checks, specific delivery info, anything you want in the customer database. Send out mailing lists / promos /coupons.
 
You can run any or all modes on any touchscreen during any shift.
